Weber: Searwood Pellet Grill

Principal UI/UX Designer

Weber Searwood delivers a precision cooking experience designed for the mid-tier market. This is a product was released in 2025, and I led the project end-to-end — from design and stakeholder discussions to prototyping, securing buy-in, development, and testing. The device uses a limited-color, LCD display with minimal animation, so clear communication was essential to indicate when the cavity and probe temperatures reach target. The user experience is simple by intention, but designing within these display constraints presented a meaningful challenge.

Error handling: Use continuous flashing of the fire and warning icons to signal an error. Although the LCD’s limited motion makes animation challenging, simple, repeating flashes are effective at attracting attention—especially when users are not near the grill. Include the text “APP” to indicate that the companion app can provide additional information and help diagnose the error.
